Bill,
It was a great race, definitely one of the more exciting ones I have been in. Racing against such great competition, then having Heath, Ryan and myself battling it out at the end, it couldn't get any better.
In the heat race the track did not have an outside lane, so passing was not real easy, I finished 3rd starting me 11th in the feature. Before the feature though, the track crew watered the top and ran it in, then the tack had a very nice outside lane. I like not having an outside guard rail, when running the outside, I could carry my line almost as big as I wanted, very fun. My hat goes off to the track crew for giving us a great racing surface.
I got to see many of my customers and friends that I do not get to see very often. Being a part of the racing community is what I like most about this sport, the community is strong at Bridgeport.

WEATHER RED FLAGS THE OPENERS AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (April 11, 2009) - On the second weekend of April, weather played havoc again at Bridgeport Speedway. The 38th season of racing was scheduled to begin on Friday, April 10th. With a wet forecast in place, management cancelled the Friday night opener in order to save all participants and fans the expense of traveling to the speedway. On Saturday April 11th, rain pounded the speedway grounds in the morning and forced officials to cancel the Saturday night card, which was to feature race two of the BPG Tri-Track Big Block Modified Challenge Series and the season opener event for the URC Sprints. Due to the cancellation, race track officials have scheduled a make-up date of Saturday, July 11th for this 30-Lap BPG Tri-Track Big Block Modified Challenge Series race.
With the delays in the start of the season, the first green flag of
2009 racing action at Bridgeport Speedway will now wave on Friday, April 17th at 7:00 PM. The Slingshots by Tobias will make their first appearance at the Southern New Jersey complex. The 270cc and 600cc Micro-Sprints along with the 4-Cylinder Stock cars will complete the Fast and Furious Friday night program. Pit and Grandstand Gates will open at 5:00 PM. Grandstand Admission is $13.00. Pit Admission is $25 with a license and $30 without a license.
With no racing scheduled on Saturday, April 18th due to the BPG Tri-Track Big Block Modified Challenge Series making a stop at New Egypt Speedway, the 2009 season on the 5/8th mile oval will begin on Saturday April 25th at 6:00 PM during EMS/Fireman Night. A big racecard is on deck for the Starlit Saturday night opener featuring Big Block Modifieds, 358 Sportsman, GM Sportsman, Rookie Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks. Also, the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will be in attendance with many fine race machines from years past. All EMS and Fireman personal will be granted a $3.00 discount for Grandstand admission with proper identification. Grandstand Gates will swing open at 4:00 PM. Adult grandstand admission is $20 with kids 12 and under admitted for free. Pit admission is $30 with a pit license and $40 without a license.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.

Wow, what can we say? It is almost here, 2 days and counting. Opening night 4/10/09 of Fast and Furious Fridays at the all new Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport New Jersey. The racing season kicks off with all 3 classes running 25 lap features on the ¼ mile, 270cc & 600cc Micro Sprints along with the 4 Cylinder Stock Cars. Baskets by Diane will be sponsoring the 270 and 600 cc Micro Sprints on the ¼ mile with a $500.00 to win purse for opening night. Diane features Fruit & Any Occasions Custom Made Baskets. “A Basket for All Occasions”, so give her a call at 856- 423-4742 to see how she can customize a basket for your needs. Thank Diane when you see her Friday night at the track.
We have gotten word that “Hyper” Mike Dicely of Hyper Racing will be visiting Bridgeport’s ¼ mile on Friday night. Mike tells us he has raced Bridgeport about 4 times in his career. Twice back on the old track and twice on the new track. All were running the 270 and the 600cc Micros. He said a big reason he went there is because no one else ran the 600’s except Airport Speedway in New Castle, Delaware, no 600 racing in Pa. at the time. So he came here to shake down his 600 before he went to race the big NMMA nationals. He informs us a big reason he wants to return to Bridgeport is because he has a lot of Hyper’s that run there now, and he wants to go experience the track again so he can better support his customers here.
He mentioned to us that he has no expectations other than giving it my best effort and letting the racing God's work out the rest. If you approach a race with expectations, that implies that you will be disappointed if you do not meet them. My racing results do not determine my happiness. We need to find joy in all we do regardless of what our ego desires. Mike said the car counts at Bridgeport have been really good and consistent, it is great to see that and it will be great to be a part of it. I am also looking forward to seeing friends that I do not get to see often. Thanks Bill, I hope the weather holds out for us.
Pit and Grandstand Gates will open at 5:00 PM. With warm-ups at 6:15 and racing to start at 7:00 PM
Hope to see you all there
Bill
